The Houston & District Branch of RSCDS, is a IRC Section 501(c)(3) educational organization. Organized in 1978, our mission is to preserve Scottish Country Dancing in Houston and America by training dancers and offering local opportunities to dance.
2018 marked the RSCDS Houston & District Branch's 40th Anniversary! Thank you to all of our board and dancers for making our annual ball such a fun event! We also had amazing music to dance to!!
We are the Branch for Houston as well as Austin, San Antonio, Denton / Ft. Worth and all of Texas, (headquarters didn't realize how big Texas is!).
In Houston and the Woodlands we offer general classes. All classes are taught by RSCDS certified teachers and held in sessions which generally follow the public school calendar year.
The Houston Branch holds an annual Ball every year in October with live music. We also have social dances throughout the year. Some of these events are geared to new dancers to introduce our favorite pastime to people unfamiliar with Scottish Country Dancing.
We demonstrate Scottish Country Dancing at events, such as the Houston Highland Games, the annual DBE (Daughters of the British Empire) Bazaar and various other Houston area festivals.
Our board meets every other month. The recent minutes from these meetings can be downloaded above right.
